THE CAR

Launched in September 1998, the AU Falcon was the sixth generation of the Aussie sedan that was produced through the AUII and AUIII models until September 2002.

The XR8 version was the highest spec and was optioned up with 17 inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, independent rear suspension, limited slip differential, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, 6-stacker CD player and 6-speaker sound system, power windows and sports seats.

Powered by a 5.0 litre, 220kw engine, the XR8 was capable of  0-100kmph in 6.6 seconds.

THE CAR

This Series III Ford Falcon AU XR8 rolled off the production line in April 2002 and is finished in stunning Venom Red with a cloth interior in immaculate condition.

Sold by New Oak Ford in Victoria, it was dealer optioned with a complete performance exhaust kit upgrade as evidenced by the plate on the car’s fire wall. The resulting exhaust note is fantastic.

Power comes from a very strong 5.0 litre, 220kW V8 engine that was hand built by Tickford including cast aluminium heads, balanced engine internals, special camshaft, cold air intake, roller rockers and multi-point fuel injection.

Each engine received its own unique plaque with the name of the Tickford technician who assembled it and this particular unit was built by a Shane Dunbar.

This car has an automatic transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes, rear spoiler and has travelled only 183,455 km over its 20 year life.

In the last 12 years (since 2010), just over 1,000 kms have been put on the clock.
