THE CAR

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 was created by DaimlerChrysler’s PVO (Performance Vehicle Operations) division and is powered by an 8.3 litre V10 mated to a 4 speed automatic transmission. The engine is the same power plant used in the Dodge Viper and produces 500 brake horsepower and 677 Nm of torque.

Dodge released several limited editions of the Ram SRT-10 including the 2006 Night Runner that was exclusively painted in Brilliant Black and clad in 22” alloy wheels finished in Dark Nickel Pearl.

The Night Runner had a unique hood that featured a wide power bulge and honeycomb grill hood scoop which allowed cool air to enter and hot air to exit from the engine bay.

The model also had an electrically operated tonneau cover, a red start button on the dash,  aluminium performance-inspired pedals and the gauge cluster featured silver faced gauges with Viper font and graphics.

Only 400 Night Runners were scheduled to be produced worldwide (370 actually built) and only 251 of these were the quad-cab variant seating up to five people.

In July 2004 a Dodge Ram SRT-10 driven by NASCAR driver Brendan Gaughan set the Guinness World Record for the world’s fastest production truck with an average speed of 248.784 kmph.

 

THE STORY

A torque monster and an outstanding example of a rare “super truck”.

One of the very few to make its way to Australia – build number 51 of 370 made and one of the few five seater quad-cabs worldwide.

Inside the cabin is extremely roomy and the front bucket seats feature deep bolsters trimmed in grey leather with black suede centre inserts. The 8 speaker Infinity sound system is linked to a large LCD map navigation system.

Silver backed gauges include a 8,000 RPM tachometer and 160 mph speedometer with Viper decals and font.

Stopping power is provided by ABS-equipped disc brakes with huge rotors. Two NASCAR inspired brake cooling ducts integrate into the front facsia to provide cooling for the brakes.

This vehicle has a sunroof, CB radio, compass, cruise control, air conditioning, power seats, power windows and rear spoiler (currently removed).

Only 72,659 kms travelled since new.
