THE STORY

Jaguar once used the slogan “pace with grace” and the description sums up this big cat. The XJ8 is sporty, elegant and classic in design.

For this model Jaguar designed a new body shell made completely of aluminium – 40% lighter than the previous steel model and rust resistant. The body was also 60% stiffer due to the monocoque construction.

Engine options included 3.5 litre, 4.2 litre and 4.2 litre supercharged V8s. They had double overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. All engines were smooth and powerful - ideally suited to long-distance cruising. Sport mode activated with the push of a button gave these cars a sporty edge.

All cars had a 6-speed automatic transmission and self-levelling air springs and adaptive shock absorbers made for an outstanding ride.

Luxury appointments included rich walnut adorning the dash, console and door trims, climate-control air-conditioning, cruise control, CD stacker in the boot, remote central-locking, full leather trim, powered front seats, adjustable pedals,18-inch alloy wheels, electric hand brake and navigation touch-screen.

Safety features included traction control, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, parking sensors and brake assist. Dual front, head and side-front airbags also helped to keep the occupants safe.

 THE CAR

This 2003 Jaguar XJ8 is finished in British Racing Green and powered by a 3.5 litre V8 engine.

With only two owners since new and only 110,900 kms on the clock, all books and service records are to hand. Last service was at 108,144 kms. There is also an extensive receipts file. The current lady owner has been in possession since November 2009 when the car was showing 79,313 kms. The car is well cared for and the interior is immaculate in beige Connolly leather. The extensive walnut treatments are in as new condition – deep in colour with no cracking or delamination.

Standard features are extensive as outlined above. The engine is strong, transmission smooth and engaging sports mode makes for spirited driving.
