THE STORY
Backed by the prestige of six consecutive world rally titles and the long racing heritage of Lancia, the Delta HF Integrale topped the sales charts in the performance 4x4 car market.
The first Lancia HF was born in May 1986 with a turbo charged 2.0 litre engine. Over the next few years the car was developed into a more powerful and sophisticated unit with aggressive lines and stance to highlight its sporting personality.
In 1989 the 16-valve version of the engine was first introduced and ABS was added as standard. This engine is the most sought-after spec of the model.
The 1993 version had improved air intake from front bumper grills and lateral bonnet air slats, an adjustable roof spoiler and stronger five bolt wheels.
Special limited-edition models were released with each WRC victory in the later years. Following the car’s 6th title, Lancia released a limited run of 310 “Martini 6” cars which featured white paint with Martini-Racing stripes, “World Rally Champion” decals and white 15-inch wheels.
The “HF” symbols on the cars are the official logo of Lancia’s sports cars and originated from the Lancia Hi Fi Club founded in 1960. To be a member of this club, you had to be invited, a loyal Lancia client and pass strict eligibility rules. The elephant was added for the Integrale Evolution I as it is an auspicious emblem or symbol of victory from Eastern mythology.
THE CAR
A fantastic example of one of the world’s greatest Motorsport icons. This model won six consecutive World Rally Championships during the period 1987 to 1992 inclusive. Its dominance in the sport has never been bested.
This car is the 4-wheel drive, 16 valve HF Integrale Evo 1 in right hand drive. It is modelled on the “Martini 6” special edition with correct white paint, Martini-Racing stripes and white 15-inch wheels.
During the period 2012-2017, the engine was fully rebuilt and augmented to 2.2 litre capacity with the internals being forged and the car has travelled around 8,500km since.
At the same time other work was undertaken including, reconditioning the gearbox, new sports intercooler, new radiator, engine mounts, reconditioned turbo with ball bearings, sports clutch and air conditioning unit. Over $ 40,000 of receipts are to hand for this work.
The car was treated to new suspension, master cylinder and brakes in late 2020.
Inside, the original Recaro seats are trimmed in green suede with correct Lancia “6 World Rally Champion” floormats and navigator footrest. All gauges and electricals work.
Steering is incredibly responsive and tight and the car has outstanding acceleration and power.
All receipts, documentation and original books come with the car.
