THE STORY

Manufactured by Jaguar Cars in Coventry, England between 1979 and 1992, the Jaguar XJ Series III was the manufacturer’s flagship 4-door model and an impressive luxury salon for its time crammed full of refined features and creature comforts.

The Pininfarina designed Series III production run ran between 1979 and 1987. Styling improvements over the Series II included a grill with only vertical vanes, a revised roofline with narrower door frames and increased glass area and flush door handles.

The cars took on the appearance of a big cat ready to pounce and the view from the driver’s seat gives the impression you are continually propelling forward.

Theses rear wheel drive cars were powered by either Jaguar’s 3.4 litre or 4.2 litre inline 6-cylinder engine. The smaller engines were carburetted whereas the larger 4.2 litre was coupled to a Lucas-Bosch fuel injected system.

Transmissions were a Borg Warner 3-speed automatic, there were power assisted disc brakes all round and the wheels were a unique and spectacular alloy “Pepperpot” design with Jaguar emblem centres.

This is a well maintained Series III XJ6 sporting the larger fuel injected 4.2 litre 6-cylinder engine.

Originally delivered to New Rowley Motors, North Narrabeen NSW on 20^th November 1985 to a corporate purchaser, the car’s books reveal this to be a Jaguar Sovereign “L” Pack (Luxury Pack).

Now showing only 158,100 kms, it is an original low kms vehicle.

Being a Luxury Pack, the car is fully optioned with beautiful doeskin leather upholstery, deep pile carpets, power sunroof, rear headrests, climate control air conditioning, power steering, power windows, telescopic steering wheel, lumbar support seats, trip computer, cruise control and more.

The walnut interior has been fully retrimmed and shows a spectacular deep wooden hue. A modern Bluetooth radio has been installed.

The ride quality is an outstanding balance of a smooth ride and sporty handling. Stopping is provided by 4-wheel disc brakes.

Recent work includes a full major service, new steering rack and tie rod end boots, EFI service and hoses, new battery with isolator switch, fuel gauge service, fully reconditioned interior, new rubber seals, new electric aerial and pin striping. Money has been spent to ensure this car has no oil leaks. Receipts are to hand.
