The 1975 Mercedes-Benz 280SE W116 is a flagship luxury sedan - the series was manufactured between 1972 and 1980. The W116 vehicles were the first Mercedes-Benz models to be officially called "S-Class" - for Sonderklasse or "special class." In 1974, the W116 was selected as European Car of the Year.

The cars were powered by a 2.8 litre DOHC straight 6 engine that was fuel injected, had 4 speed automatic transmissions, 4 wheel disc brakes and handled exceptionally well thanks to Mercedes-Benz "anti-dive" suspension technology.

This is a two-owner vehicle that was held by the same family from 1975 to 2021. It is fully documented with its original books and a comprehensive history. It has previously been on historic registration in Queensland and is currently registered in South Australia.

The 157,800 kms on the odometer is original and supported by the documentation to hand.

The car has just been fully re-sprayed in stunning Dark Blue metallic. The matching Blue interior and wood work is in exceptional condition. All chrome and bright work is also in excellent condition.

On the road it has good top end power and handles superbly through the corners and around sweeping bends. The transmission is smooth witch gear changes barely perceptible.

The car's gauges, indicators, wipers and washers all work and the air conditioning blows cold.  An Alpine head unit has been installed that has Bluetooth, USB and AUX inputs.
