THE STORY
Fiat had a knack of turning their mundane, pedestrian base model cars into something special. Designed by Bertone, this stylish little Fiat 850 spider is one of those special cars.
THE CAR
Rarely seen in Australia, this is the desirable, 1971 late production model with the most powerful engine available (903cc). It was originally delivered new to the USA and is left hand drive.
The car has the stunning, elegant colour combination of Graphite exterior, red interior and new black convertible top. Special features include whitewall tyres, the optional chrome luggage rack, optional chrome front and rear bumper guards and gorgeous wire wheels. It also has the optional tonneau cover, original Fiat sales brochures, a tool kit with jack and owner’s manual.
The car has been treated to new brakes, clutch and head gasket on the past few months.
This is a driver’s car and a treat to drive around corners with nimble handling and the purr of the rear mounted engine behind you.
The four-speed manual transmission retains its original gear knob and the steering wheel is also original with no cracks. All gauges and switches work, the seats are comfortable and there is plenty of headroom [I am 6 foot 3 and fit in easily with the top up].
This car turns more heads when driving than some of our muscle cars!
A must for any serious Fiat collector.
