HOLDEN

1970 HG PREMIER STATION SEDAN

SOLD

THE STORY

Arriving in winter 1970, the Holden HG series replaced the outgoing HT model with mild facelift, updated styling and mechanical improvements.

Available models were the Belmont, Kingswood, Premier, Brougham and Monaro.

For the Station Sedans, engines ranged from a 161ci straight-six through to a 186ci six, 253ci V8 or a 308ci V8.

All Premier models came standard with the larger 186ci straight-six Holden Red Motor.

Transmission options included a 3-speed column change manual, a 4-speed syncromesh floor mounted manual and a tri-matic 3-speed automatic.

The Premier was an upmarket version of the Belmont/Kingswood and had quad headlight treatment, standard bucket seats, extra interior trim, carpeted floor mats and armrests.

THE CAR

Good quality HG Premier Station Sedan (Wagon) that was built in July 1970 fitted with rare Tropi-cool Starline air conditioning.

The beneficiary of a recent respray, the car is finished in its original and rare Lakeside Green Metallic paint (paint code 567-12188).

The contrasting Sandlewood interior is in excellent condition. All chrome and stainless steel is in great condition and the car has the optional sun visor and venetian blinds in the rear.

Power is from an original Holden 186ci inline 6 cylinder Red Motor with 2-barrel carburettor which revs freely and gives good power and highway cruising speeds. The transmission is a “3 on the tree” column mounted manual.

Fun and easy to drive, steering is light, the car sits solidly on the road and does not wander and braking is exceptional. The car sits on original rims with sparkling hubcaps and white wall tyres.

Extremely cool, a massive head turner and a fantastic piece of Australian automotive history.
