1970 MACH 1 MUSTANG - 428 SUPER COBRA JET
Introduced in 1969, the “Mach 1” was a performance oriented option package for the wildly successful Ford Mustang. It was an instant success as the horsepower wars escalated even further.
The Mach 1 was only available for the “Sports roof” body style (previously known as the “Fastback”) and included matte black hood treatment, hood scoop, competition suspension, chrome pop-open gas cap, deluxe interior and optional chin spoiler, rear deck spoiler and rear window louvres.
Buyers had a choice of seven engine options ranging from the sweet 351 ci up to the thumping 428 ci. Multiple colour, interior, axle, transmission and other options meant that buyers could literally customise their own vehicles.
The 1970 Mach 1 sported the new Cleveland V8 engines which were heavyweight small-block engines designed to act like big blocks.
Style-wise, the 1970 model had dual beam headlights with recessed sports lamps, revised bucket seats, side striping and a new honeycomb rear panel that added depth.
This is a numbers matching R CODE 428ci SUPER COBRA JET Mach 1 that retains its ORIGINAL BUILD SHEET.
Finished in beautiful Wimbledon White duco, the car retains most of its original features including black Mach 1 knitted vinyl interior, C-6 automatic gearbox, amber sports lamps, rear window louvre and spoiler and original, complete oil cooler assembly.
The differential has been changed to a 3.50:1 axle ratio for more enjoyable cruising.
The car has been treated to new carpet, Magnum 500 wheels and BF Goodrich tyres.
The engine is strong, transmission smooth and brakes responsive.
A rare, powerful and impressive muscle car – blue chip investment.

A Deluxe Marti Report verifying the authenticity of the car is included.
