THE STORY

The Nova was developed by Chevrolet to compete in the compact-car wars that started in the early 1960s. In 1962 it commenced its life as the “Chevy II” as a brand-new car straight from the drawing board.

Over the years the style and options were refined until the car developed into a true muscle car in 1969 with two V8 engine options. The name was changed to “Nova” and 1970 was the last year of the high compression engines.

One of the smallest muscle cars ever fielded by Detroit, the Nova SS (“Super Sport”) included a 295 hp (220 kW) 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 engine along with a heavy-duty suspension, close ratio 4 speed manual or 3 speed automatic and other performance hardware. This configuration was designated as the L48.

When the 350 cubic-inch V8 was ordered with the SS option, it came with a four-barrel carburetor and an extra five horsepower, giving it 300 in total. This was the result of the different air filter housing that was used on the engine.

THE CAR

Fully restored, this rare and genuine Nova SS 350 retains its original, numbers matching,  350cid/300hp engine with original 4 speed manual with Hurst shifter, 12-bolt posi-traction rear end, front power disc brakes, factory bench seat and all new correct black upholstery.

It boasts ceramic coated premium extractors, excellent chrome, glass, stainless steel trim and original SS rally wheels with Michelin premium radial white wall tyres. The car also has an aftermarket AM/FM radio.

The car has an aggressive stance and the engine, with its mild cam, is incredibly strong with an awesome big V8 exhaust note.

A beautiful ground-up restoration, refinished in the rare and factory original Cortez Silver exterior colour.

This car has its original Protect-O-Plate which adds extreme provenance to any genuine Chevy collector.
