THE STORY
Introduced in September 1959, the Ford Falcon was a front-engine, rear-drive, compact car that was produced right through to 1970 across three generations. A sales success for Ford initially, the Falcon outsold contemporary rivals from Chrysler and General Motors.
There were a range of different body designs and two engine choices – the 200ci 6-cylinder and the 302ci Windsor V8. Transmission was either a 3-speed manual or 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic auto.
The top of the line was the highly trimmed Futura Sports Coupe which featured bucket seats, upgraded carpets, ash trays and chrome side window frames that gave the car the look of a hardtop.
These Sports coupes were the rarest model for 1969 and are the most sought after today.
