HOLDEN

1968 HK UTE

SOLD

THE STORY

Launched as a “New Age Holden” in January 1968, the HK was the first Holden to offer a V8 engine (standard was an inline six-cylinder) and first gear synchromesh option.

The HK Premier was the first to have four headlights.

There were thirteen different models and the model ran until May 1969. In March 1968, two coupe utilities and a panel van variant were released.

Three (on the column) and four (on the floor) speed manuals were available as well as the optional 2-speed Powerglide automatic.

This model was exported to South Africa and became GM’s best seller in that country.

THE CAR

This HK utility is finished in Silver Mink and is fitted with GTS guards, a GTS bonnet an HT Premier grill and LED twin headlights.

Power comes from a 253ci V8 engine housed inside a detailed engine bay. The engine is fitted with “253” chrome valve covers, Edelbrock air cleaner and Holley carburettor.

Power is put to the road via a 3-speed tri-matic automatic transmission with the shifter on the tree.

Fitted with extractors and a 2.5 inch exhaust the V8 note is fantastic as you blast down the freeway.

Inside there is a GTS steering wheel, HT Premier dash, comfortable beige vinyl interior, rear venetian blind and the dash and door cards in good condition.

Tech has been upgraded with an Alpine head unit, reversing camera and USB port in dash.

The rear tray has a near-new tonneau cover and timber bed ready to stain.

This ute sits on sparkling 18 inch x 7 inch Boyd mag wheels with brand new tyres.

Currently on SA club registration, previously registered in Victoria.
