1966 CORVETTE BIG BLOCK

THE STORY

In 1966 Chevrolet introduced the "Big Block" 427ci engines to their successfull C2 Corvette line up.

The new L72 engine had mechanical valve lifters, a special performance camshaft and 11 : 1 compression ratio.

Models with these engines sported a special bubble hood to accommodate the larger engine.

Chevrolet originally marketed the 425 horsepower engine a 450 but changed the literature and badging to the lower numbers.

Large Holley carburetors become standard on all engines and seats were updated to reduce wear and tear.

Only 5,572 L72 Big Block Corvettes were produced in 1966

THE CAR

This is a beautiful, original BIG BLOCK L72 427ci (450/425 HP) top-of-the-tree Corvette convertible.

The car boasts rally red duco, leather seats, new carpet, its original 4 speed close ratio heavy duty Muncie gearbox and posi-traction rear end.

The car retains its original AM/FM radio, power brakes, power steering, glorious side pipes, has new knock off wheels and has both hard and soft top options.

With acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds, performance is breathtaking and the growl from the side pipes gets your juices flowing.

All 427ci nuances are intact including correct gauges, alloy intake and running gear.

Extremely rare and valuable, a blue-chip muscle car investment.
