THE STORY
Chrysler’s flagship model over serval decades, the New Yorker helped to define Chrysler as a manufacturer of upscale vehicles. They were the best of everything Chrysler offered in terms of comfort and prestige.
Powered by 413ci V8 engines, the 1960 model also boasted unibody construction, a wraparound front bumper, the same front grill treatment of the Chrysler 300F, rear bucket seats and swiveling front seats for easy access.
The gorgeous and iconic tailfins were designed by Virgil Exner and this model has the unique “AstraDome” dash with “electroluminescence”.
Rare and beautiful vehicles from a never to be repeated era of auto design.
THE CAR
From long term ownership.
One of only 2,835 two-door hardtops built, this glorious New Yorker coupe is finished in stunning black with outstanding original luxury green interior.
The car retains its original 340HP Golden Lion 413ci (6.7 litre) wedge V8 engine and ram induction 4-barrel carburettor which has fantastic power and exhaust note.
The push button TorqueFlite automatic transmission is silky smooth and standard power steering ensures an easy drive.
The interior is in outstanding condition for its age with a colour-coded pearlescent steering wheel and the carpets, door cards and interior chrome are all in outstanding condition.
Other features include acres of chrome and stainless steel all on good condition, power windows, power brakes, swivel front seats, remote adjustable driver’s mirror and brand-new white wall tyres.
The car has paint issues in various places, the odometer and speedometer don’t currently work and neither does the temperature gauge.
