The 5^th generation Porsche 911 (Type 996) marked the most radical design change in the Porsche 911’g history to that point.

Porsche discontinued its traditional air-cooled engine in favour of a water-cooled flat-six. The change was mandatory to meet sticker global emissions and noise regulations but it also allowed Porsche to employ more powerful 4 valve-per-cylinder heads.

The new 3.4 litre M96 engine put out 300 HP, accelerated 0-100 kmph in 5.2 seconds and had a top speed of 280 kmph.

The new design had a sleeker body, more raked windshield, headlights that were integrated into the bonnet and the cabin was modernised with more space, better ergonomics and digital displays.

The cars were available as a coupe or cabriolet, came with a 5-speed ZF automatic Tiptronic S transmission or a 6-speed Getag G99/00 manual and were all rear-wheel drive.

This is an Australian delivered right-hand drive C23 coded vehicle.

It is a beautiful and well-kept 1998 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera finished in Guards Red (paint code L84A) with Beige leather trim.

This car has the 3.4 litre, flat-six M96.01 engine which is very strong and the owner states the IMS bearing has been updated.

This is a desirable 6-speed manual car that has been fitted with a ball bearing adjustable short-throw shifter used by most Porsche racing teams in the USA. The shifter has been machined from aerospace grade aluminium and uses stainless steel hardware to ensure shifting accuracy.
