Launched in 1997, the Jaguar XJ X308 brought modern engineering to a classic design. As the first XJ to feature Jaguar’s all-new 3.2L AJ-V8 engine, it marked a shift from the aging inline-six and V12 engines of previous generations, delivering improved performance, reliability and efficiency.

Visually, the X308 kept Jaguar’s trademark style - sleek, low-slung lines, a long bonnet, and quad headlamps. Inside, it offered a traditional luxury cabin with leather seats, walnut trim, and a clean, driver-focused layout.

The 3.2L V8 produced 240 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. It provided smooth acceleration and quiet cruising, with handling tuned for comfort but still responsive when pushed. Adaptive suspension helped balance ride quality and control.

Today, the X308 stands as the last of the classic-looking XJs before a major design overhaul, and the first to embrace a new era of Jaguar engineering.

THE CAR

A two-owner vehicle imported from Japan, this 1998 Jaguar XJ8 (X308) is finished in beautiful Metallic Mistral Blue and powered by a 3.2L V8 engine. The original plastic timing chain tensioner has been proactively upgraded with the metal replacement part.

With only 12,450 kms on the clock, this car is in immaculate condition inside and out, appearing like new.

Inside the cockpit, the driver is surrounded by luxurious light grey leather and wood-grain accents.
