Produced in Australia by Holden between 1980 to 1985, the Holden WB series was a facelifted version of the HZ series which it replaced. Unlike the HZ and every other full-size Holden series before it, the WB was only offered in commercial body-styles with no sedan or wagon passenger car variants.

The WB was equipped with a 3.3L six-cylinder engine as standard, however a 4.2L V8 was offered as an option. The 5L V8 engine was not carried over from the HZ range but was available by special request.

Model lineup for the WB included two coupe utility models, a panel van and a cab chassis truck. The Kingswood panel van, Sandman utility and Sandman panel van models were not carried over from the previous HZ range. Despite this, many Holden WBs have since been converted or refurbished as ‘Sandman’ tribute vehicles due the popularity of the brand.

THE CAR

Lovingly converted into a ‘Sandman’ tribute vehicle, this 1983 Holden WB Panel Van turns heads with its wicked Flamenco Red paintjob, gorgeous Black Vinyl interior and a whole host of features and upgrades.

Rocking a powerful 5L (308ci) V8 engine coupled to a 5-speed Commodore manual gearbox, this car is equipped with power steering and brakes, puts out an awesome exhaust note and is a dream to drive. The cooling system has been upgraded and features a new aluminium radiator and twin cooling fans.

Externally she’s a beauty - sporting ‘Sandman’ decals alongside brand-new GTS wheels with BF Goodrich white letter tyres. She also has a new grill, front bumper, rear bumperettes, headlight buckets, chin spoiler, side mirrors and new door handles.

On the inside, there is a GTS dash and new window winders, door cards, door rubbers, head lining and visors, in addition to comfort label Black Vinyl seats and a rear cargo area finished in studded Black Vinyl in outstanding condition. A JVC Bluetooth-capable head unit has also been installed.
