Debuting in the spring of 1964, the 1966 Ford Mustang marked an iconic milestone in American automotive history, continuing the success of Ford’s first-generation Mustang. Manufactured by the Ford Motor Company, the Mustang was spearheaded by legendary automotive executive Lee Iacocca and designed under the vision of Gale Halderman, who shaped its distinctive and sporty silhouette.

The 1966 Mustang featured a sturdy, unitized body construction, boasting a clean and timeless design that became an instant classic. Its long hood and short rear deck captured the essence of a modern pony car - a revolutionary category of vehicle introduced by the Mustang itself. Under the hood, Ford offered a variety of engine options, including the famed 289-cubic inch V8.

Available in three body styles – coupe, convertible, and fastback – the 1966 Mustang continued to define the pony car segment, solidifying its place as one of the most enduring and recognizable vehicles in automotive history.

THE CAR

Built on the 16^th of June in 1966 and delivered to Newark, New Jersey in the US, this 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe is finished in beautiful Candy Apple Red (Code T). The paintwork, chrome and interior of the car are all in excellent condition. She sits on correct styled steel wheels with whitewall tyres that complement the body perfectly.

On the inside the ‘Pony’ interior is in outstanding condition finished in Parchment Crinkle vinyl (Code F9) with pistol grip door handles, an electronic Mustang radio and an original steering wheel. The carpets and headlining are also in fantastic condition. All gauges and instruments work.

Power is provided by a correct 289ci (4.7L) V8 engine that is strong and puts out a wonderful exhaust note. This car has its original C4 ‘Cruise-O-Matic’ T Bar automatic transmission that shifts smoothly in its centre console.

Additional features include power steering, power 4 Pot Kelsey Hayes front disc brakes and a twin exhaust system.

The car is an easy drive with an excellent ride, effortless steering and responsive brakes. This is very much a ‘jump in and drive’ vehicle.
