THE STORY

Produced between 1963 and 1970, the Buick Wildcat was a full-sized luxury performance car that blended muscle with upscale comfort.

Powered by the iconic 401ci (6.6 litre) Nailhead big block engine which was known as the “Wildcat 445”, the car produced 445 lb-ft (603 Nm) of torque and put out 325 HP.

The two-door Wildcat had a bucket seat interior, centre console with tachometer, similar taillights to a Buick Electra 225 and was adorned with badges depicting a stylised head of a wildcat.

The cars either had a 3-speed manual transmission with column shift or an optional heavy-duty 3-speed Super Turbine 400 - 3-speed automatic. Factory drum brakes were standard and options included power steering, power brakes, tinted glass, air conditioning and power-operated vent windows.

In 1966, only 2,790 convertible Buick Wildcats were produced out of a total 65,794 (only 4.2%) – making them a desirable muscle car cruiser option.

THE CAR

Finished Flame Red with a White convertible top, this great looking 1966 Buick Wildcat convertible is a real head-turner. The convertible top is powered and operation is effortless.

The car is powered by its original 401ci V8 coupled to a 3-speed Super Turbine automatic gearbox which gives smooth power and pushes the big cruiser along very well.

Inside the red-and-white theme continues with original door cards, restored bucket seats and trim and brand-new red carpet. The original Buick Wildcat stylised badges adorn the seats, rear speaker steering wheel and door trims.

This is a highly optioned car with power steering and power windows. Aftermarket Cragar wheels have been added to give the car a tough look and stance.

All chrome and stainless steel is in excellent condition. The dash and gauges are also in excellent condition and this car has its original Buick tacho mounted in the front of the centre console but it is not currently working. The original radio is in place but also not currently working.

On the road this car brings a smile to your face. It drives, shifts and handles effortlessly. Everything is tight and the car feels unmolested. A CMS staff favourite to drive.

Rare in Australia, one of only 2,790 produced, a great colour combination with a tough stance with effortless motoring – this is an excellent cruiser ready for summer.
