1965 CHEVROLET IMPALA

$55,000

THE STORY

Making its debut in 1958, the Impala was Chevrolet’s popular flagship passenger car and has remained one of the best-selling American-made vehicles in United States history.

Named ‘Impala’ after the graceful African antelope, the original concept featured Corvette-like design cues and hardtop styling. Clare MacKichan from General Motors alongside designers from Pontiac worked on the prototype design to formulate the vehicle that would be available to the public 7 months after its inception.

The Impala would go on to see repeated production years spanning from 1957 right up to 2020.

Redesigned in 1965, the fourth generation of the Chevrolet Impala set an all-time industry annual sales record of more than one million units in the United States. Full-sized variants of this generation featured a new body that presented with curved and frameless side glass for pillarless models, a sharper angled windshield with newly re-shaped vent windows and redesigned full-coil suspension. Engine choices included an inline six-cylinder as well as small-block and big-block V8s.

A fourth-generation Chevrolet Impala is predominantly featured in the hit TV series ‘Supernatural’.

THE CAR

Imported from the US to Australia in August of 2020 and with the current owner since November of 2021, this 1965 Chevrolet Impala is in great condition and finished in Cameo Beige with a matching Beige Cloth interior.

Work has been completed on the vehicle including a repair and service to the rare original air-conditioning system which still functions and blows cold. The lower suspension has been worked on and the coil springs were replaced, the vehicle was lowered and fitted with rally wheels. The original coil springs and wheels along with hub caps are supplied with purchase.

The car has a tough stance, and the front grill and chrome trim looks excellent against the gleaming paintwork. The interior is clean and well-kept with wood-grain accents on the dash. All gauges and instruments are working and in great condition.

Sporting a 283ci (4.6L) V8 engine coupled to a two-speed ‘Powerglide’ automatic transmission, this Impala has plenty of power and drives fantastically. The car is left-hand drive and the inclusion of power steering, power brakes and a tilt steering column adds up to comfort and ease behind the wheel.

Power, style and comfort all in one package – a beautiful example of an American classic.

Currently registered in SA and ready to cruise anywhere.
