1997 BROOKLANDS TURBO
In 1992 Bentley released the “Brooklands” as a replacement model for the Mulsanne and the model run continued until 1997.
The new model had upgraded electronics and instrument displays, a centre console gear lever and electronically controlled suspension.
In late 1996, the power output from Bentley 6.75 litre V8 engine was boosted by 20% for the last year of production thanks to the use of a Garrett turbo charger.
This one year only upgrade makes the 1997 turbo charged models extremely rare.
For 1997 only 352 Brooklands were built worldwide, taking over 10 months to complete their hand crafted journey down the production line.
Of these 352, only 152 were produced in right hand drive.
With a top speed of 225 kmph and luxurious interiors, these cars were designed to be the ultimate grand tourers.
Number 16 of the 352 built, this is an extremely rare Australian delivered example.
Finished in metallic “Royal Ebony” this car has contrasting leather parchment seats with dark red piping and dark red dash pad. The dark paint perfectly accents the beautiful chrome waterfall grille.
Inside, the luxurious Burr walnut dash and accents, leather and chrome door cards are all in outstanding condition for its age. There is a 10-speaker system Alpine entertainment system with screens mounted in the rear head rests and the rear occupants also benefit from fold out walnut picnic tables.
Power steering, power brakes, power seats, power mirrors, ABS, cruise control, central locking, light sensing headlights, dual front airbags, climate control air conditioning and central locking are all standard.
With only 73,300 km travelled since new, this is a well maintained and low use example of a very rare, one-year-only turbo charged luxury tourer.
