THE STORY
Spanish manufacturer Montesa has a long history of designing and building fantastic trail bikes and hiring the top riders for development and competition work.
The Cota was manufactured between 1968 and 1977 and won the Spanish trials championship in 1968. It had fantastic ground clearance, a tight fork rake, large fly wheel and slim mid-section to help it through the mud.
The best trial riders in the world were often competing to enter the official Montesa teams.
THE BIKE
This Montesa Cota 247 is powered by its original 247cc motor which has been rebuilt and restored.
The single cylinder engine is air-cooled, two-stroke and has an Amal carburettor. The compression ratio is 10:1 and the bike puts out 20 HP.
The restoration has been undertaken to a very high standard and there is a “Montesa” display frame that goes with the bike.
The bike has been on display since the completion of the restoration.
