THE STORY

General Motors designer Harley Earl is credited with convincing GM to build a two-seat sports car for the American market.

Launched in 1953, the resulting Chevrolet Corvette quickly earned the mantle of “America’s Sport’s Car” and the model is still produced today.

1966 is one of the most loved years for the Corvette – demand was up 17% on the previous year.

Changes included a decorative grill, removal of roof vents the introduction of backup lights and tinted windows. In addition, this was the first year that Corvette offered a big block engine – the legendary 427ci Chevy V8.

Options for this model year included shoulder belts, air conditioning, knock-off wheels and AM-FM radios. Nassau Blue was the most popular colour for this year, accounting for 6,100 cars.

THE CAR

This beautiful and tough Nassau Blue Corvette Stingray Coupe has an immaculate black vinyl interior and is highly optioned. Features include air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power ariel, three speed Turbo 350 automatic transmission, side pipe exhaust system, turbine wheels with three bar knock off spinner caps and new centres, Bluetooth original style AM/FM radio.

The car has its original strong 327ci V8 (300HP) engine with an upgraded 4 barrel carburettor that delivers high end acceleration and has plenty of torque. The engine bay has been “blinged up” via the extensive use of chrome.

The exhaust note from the optional side pipes is glorious and enhances the driving experience no end.

A timber Corvette steering wheel frames the functional and beautiful gauge cluster, the clock is functional and flip-up headlights work well.

New redline tyres fitted to the turbine wheels compliment this car’s tough stance.
