THE STORY

The 2007 Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) BF Mk II Falcon GT Cobra was a limited-edition muscle car released to celebrate two milestones in Ford Australia’s history.

The first was the 30th anniversary of Allan Moffat and Colin Bond's famous 1-2 victory at the 1977 Bathurst 1000 in XC Falcon hardtops. The second was to pay tribute to the original 1978 XC Falcon Cobra coupe.

Only 500 units were produced comprising 400 sedans based on the FPV BF GT and 100 utes based on the FPV Super Pursuit utility. Every car had its own production number attached to the centre console.

All cars were finished in Winter White and had two Bold Blue racing stripes running over the body – the same as the original 1978 XC Cobra.

Power was supplied by an upgraded Ford Boss 5.4 litre V8 with quad cams that was rated at 540Nm of torque and 405HP. That HP rating equates to 302kW – a nod to the original 302ci capacity of the XC Cobra.

Transmission was either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. All cars had stiffer R-Spec suspension dampers and multi-piston Brembo brakes.

Many of these cars were bought and stored as collector items and with the demise of Australian made Fords, they continue to attract strong interest.

THE CAR

Build number 144 of 400 made, this is an immaculate 2007 FPV Falcon GT Cobra.

This car has travelled a mere 7,850 kms and has been stored in a temperature-controlled environment over the years.

It has its original, numbers matching 5.4 litre quad-cam V8 engine which is coupled to the highly prized 6-speed manual transmission.

Finished in faultless Winter White with blue stripes, it has all the provenance intact including the build number plaque, original FPV owner compendium, delivery books and service records, wheel lock nut and specially designed blue and white Cobra Car-Bra.

Inside the car is equipped with black leather sports seats featuring white contrast stitching and white embroidered Cobra logos on all seats. The interior, dash, door cards and carpet are all immaculate.

Other features include stainless steel exhaust manifolds coupled to a high-flow dual exhaust system, LSD, ABS, 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with white accents and a polished finish and an aggressive FPV body kit including front and rear spoilers.

There is also dual-zone climate-controlled air conditioning, power steering, power windows, a 6-speaker premium sound system, cruise control, electric driver’s seat and a multi-function steering wheel.

This is an extremely low km example of a very collectable Australian icon.
