Produced from 1967 until 1982, the Corvette C3 was the third generation of the iconic sports car made by Chevrolet.

Engines and chassis components were mostly carried over from the previous generation, however the body and the interior on the C3 were completely new.

Over the course of its production cycle, the C3 Corvette underwent many incremental changes. By the time the 1980s rolled around, both the front and rear bumper covers were restyled with brand new aerodynamic spoilers that contributed to a significant reduction in drag and increased radiator air flow. The hood was also restyled. Air conditioning became standard, as did the tilt-telescopic steering column, power windows and exterior sport mirrors.

In 1981 there was only one engine option – a 5.7L (350ci) V8. Both automatic and manual transmissions were available. This iteration of the C3 was also the first Corvette to use a fiberglass rear leaf spring, which has since become a Corvette trademark.

THE CAR

Personally imported to Australia from California USA by the current owner in 2018, this numbers matching Chevrolet Corvette C3 is in excellent condition and shows 45,300 miles on the clock.

Sporting the classic combination of a yellow paint finish with a black leather interior, she is a Targa top with two roof options – yellow hard top panels with the original covers, and an aftermarket Perspex single-piece.

The car is left-hand drive and features power steering, windows and mirrors, an electric driver's seat and an aftermarket Bluetooth radio. Air conditioning is present as well, though needs re-gassing (all components are there) as it has not been recommissioned since being in Australia.

She is mechanically sound, rocking a 5.7L (350ci) V8 engine with good power. The four-speed manual transmission is smooth and she handles beautifully.

A full Australian service history is included with the purchase. Work done includes news tyres, new distributor, brake pads and clutch plate changed, 2 rear brake calipers, fitment of a 2 ½” stainless steel exhaust, starter motor, hose and radiator repairs.

Incredibly fun to drive and a prime example as to why the Corvette C3 was so popular. Currently on historic registration in SA.
